How to Balance a Match
Chess is the ultimate game of skill - no luck involved. As great as chess is, this makes it difficult to play with people of different skill levels and difficult to learn. ChessUp includes many unique features to keep the game balanced and interactive.
Custom Time Controls
Players typically play games with 5, 15, or even 30 minutes to play the game for each side.
However you can set different time limits for each color to give a more experienced player less time to think. This feature is fully customizable.
AI Assistance
Different Assistance levels can be set for each player, or turned off entirely.
If you still want a fair game, simply set the assistance level to “Beginner” for the newer player and the board will only highlight piece blunders in red while keeping everything else the same.
Evaluation
Enabling evaluation shows the live engine analysis of the position. This will show which side is better as the game is played, which can help players spot ideas or blunders.
If a side shows +2, this means white is better by 2 points of material, with a pawn being worth 1 point and a queen being worth 9 points.
Move Feedback
Move Feedback shows how good each move is immediately after it is played. It will indicate “Best, Excellent, Good, Inaccuracy, Mistake, Blunder”.
This allows you to review your games as you play and to find ideas, without relying on AI Assistance to make your move.
Best Move
Enabling this will show which move was best in the position after every move played. If you find yourself unsure of what the best move in position is, use this to learn without influencing the game as you play.
Hint Limit
Hint Limits prevent AI Assistance from always being enabled. If a limit is set to “3”, then only the first three pieces touched each move will give light guidance.

What do the colored tiles mean?
ChessUp’s patented AI assistance feature uses different colors to help you improve while you play. Each square can light up with 4 different colors: red, blue, green, and purple. What each color means depends on the level of AI assistance you’ve selected

Can I use any chess pieces in ChessUp 2?
No. ChessUp 2 has a lot going on under the hood. Everything down to the weighted pieces is part of our proprietary Touchsense technology. Only ChessUp 2 pieces will work with ChessUp 2.
Does ChessUp 2 ships internationally?
Yes! ChessUp ships anywhere in the US, Canada, EU, Australia, and many other places around the world.
Does my online opponent have to have a ChessUp board?
No. You can play anyone on a ChessUp 2 regardless of their device. ChessUp 2 connects into the general Chess.com player pool.
What level of player is ChessUp 2 made for?
ChessUp 2 has features for everyone. It can start by teaching users how the pieces move, all the way up to A.I. assistance that would benefit masters.

Is a phone app required?
The only time a phone is required is for initial login to Wi-Fi and for playing on chess.com or lichess. Otherwise, the phone and app are not required to play.

Is internet connection required?
To access online play and other Chess.com features, an internet connection is required.
However, ChessUp 2 has many standalone features and can be used without internet. ChessUp 2 has built in bots and 2 player modes.
Are there any subscription cost?
No! All game play features on the ChessUp 2 are completely free. The ChessUp app is also free and provides post game review tools.
